The photo at the top of the page is the last one to be taken of a beautiful flowering Cherry which succumbed to two seasons of flood water. Being submersed under a foot or so of water for months at a time was too much for this young tree.
It was just 12 years old and produced an increasing display of flowers each spring. Now it has been cut back to about four feet high to provide a support for a bird table yet to be built. At least it will continue to play a part in this rain soaked and windswept garden for some years to come.
We shall have to procure another cherry tree but it will need to be sited on higher ground to prevent its demise. This tree had a special significance for us as a family since it was planted in memory of a close relative. Nothing is permanent with the possible exception of the written word for which we should all be grateful!
Writing effectively for the Web requires short sharp digestible paragraphs which help to break up the otherwise monotonous lines of text. Very different from the techniques of Authors not so long ago.
